After leaving St. George Church we hit the road for Wadi Musa and Petra. Because we won’t get to our hotel until after 4 pm, we will be seeing Petra first thing in the morning.

As we enter the ancient city of Wadi Musa, our driver and Guide takes us to a little known destination. According to the Bible, when Moses brought his 12 tribes to this area it was barren and there was no water. God spoke to him and told him to take his staff and strike a rock. From the rock sprang water, and it still flows today. The spring maintains its level and never stops flowing. It’s a miracle for sure. People come to the spring to bathe and drink the pure water. This is called the rock of Moses.

There are various hotels in the area but we chose the Movenpick Hotel for its proximity to the entrance to the ruins. What a great choice. After checking in, we went for an early dinner at the Red Cave restaurant. What an incredible meal. The restaurant is actually inside a Bedouin cave that was occupied by a family until 20 years ago. Did I mention that the food was off the hook?!

We are turning in early since we want to beat the heat tomorrow. We have a very long hike through the canyons so we need to be rested up.

Ciao until tomorrow
