This next part of our journey is filled with anticipation. Serina and I have traveled or lived throughout Southeast Asia, China, Europe, 48 States,Mexico and a few places in between, yet believe it or not, we have never been on a cruise. That all changes today.

Our Nile cruise starts in Luxor. There are literally dozens of cruise ships on the Nile but I had a specific one in mind, the Sonesta Moon Goddess. Why this ship you ask? Because it was the only one with a balcony in the suites.  I want to experience the cruise from inside and outside our suite. Bingo.

Although the ship is small by cruise ship standards, (51 total suites) it affords us all the space and privacy we need. The crew are always there and ready to assist with anything we need. The dining area is large and comfortable. The food is a completely new experience for us. Since we have been in Egypt we have only dined at the restaurants at the Mena House. Now we are eating authentic Egyptian cuisine. My first impression – different.

After dinner we decided to go out on our balcony to watch the ships go by. Since we won’t be sailing until tomorrow we wanted to enjoy the room and view of the Nile before sunset. I put on a t shirt and shorts and settled in for some well deserved relaxing. Unfortunately, after about 20 minutes on the balcony, another cruise ship pulled up along side us. That’s how it’s done on the Nile. I managed to get a few good snaps before we started the evening.

Enjoy. More tomorrow
